What we do

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

The ATATs are a citizen-led organization that works with residents, city leadership, businesses and partner organizations to increase opportunities to walk, to ride a bike and to connect with transit in Wheat Ridge. We envision a physically and economically vibrant community where people of all ages and abilities can maintain safe, healthy and connected lives through easy and equitable access to active transportation options.

COMMUNITY: EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Throughout the year, we organize informative and fun meetings, open to all. ATAT leadership provides updates on current and proposed initiatives as well as encourages engaged community members to discuss ideas, concerns and opportunities.

We also host, co-host and provide outreach at numerous events including: Ridge at 38 Criterium, Pedal to Patio [Bike to Work Day], Bike and Walk to School Days, Carnation Parade, USA Pro Challenge, RidgeFest and Community Walks & Bike Rides.

Follow us on Facebook and sign up for our newsletter to find out about upcoming events.

ADVOCACY: ACTION & ENGAGEMENT

In order to identify and support active transportation, ATAT officers closely track and communicate updates on proposed and funded initiatives. We help connect stakeholders and elected leaders for best outcomes through surveys and ongoing engagement with city staff.

The ATATs were closely involved with the development of the Wheat Ridge Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan Update, approved by the City Council in 2017, and continue to advocate for the implementation of the plan’s priorities.

SOCIAL: CONNECT & ENCOURAGE

We believe active communities are connected communities which is why we facilitate as many points of connection as possible! Neighbors stay informed, provide inspiration and exchange ideas on our Facebook group, at events and throughout the city.

ATAT leaders provide updates and calls to action through our email list and in-person contacts.
